Ian Hislop Documentaries

BBC; Wingspan Productions; Dir. Archie Baron (and others); TX 2017 - present

For over a decade we have collaborated closely with Wingspan Productions to produce all the graphics and animations on every history, arts and current affairs programme presented by Ian Hislop for the BBC. While the brief for each series or film has varied to reflect their diverse subjects, we’ve developed a distinctive, irreverent and witty approach that has become synonymous with Ian Hislop’s presenting style.

For example, in ‘Ian Hislop’s Olden Days’ our animated cabinet of curiosities, which formed the shape of Great Britain, was not only the title sequence, but also a means to introduce each new chapter in this series about the power of the past in Britain.

For ‘Who Should We Let In?’ we created a three dimensional paper map, with a castle gate, which again could be adapted and manipulated to introduce new themes in this provocative look at attitudes to immigration.

For ‘Ian Hislop’s Stiff Upper lip’ our recurring motif was an old anatomical model of human, which was dressed or dissected in multiple ways, bringing quirky humour to this series about the history of emotions.
